Matthew Miller accused Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement of what he called behaving like a terrorist organization and attacking commercial ships, without mentioning that those vessels belong to the Zionist regime or headed to the port in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“We do not want a conflict in the Red Sea but we and our partners will continue to take appropriate measures to counter the attacks of the Houthis”, he said in reference to the Yemen army’s operations.
The US spokesperson also claimed that Ansarullah is endangering the peace process with its attacks on ships that its actions do not help Palestinians.
The Yemeni army has conducted over two dozen attacks on Israeli-owned or Israeli-bound ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait over the regime’s genocide in the Gaza Strip. The army has repeatedly said that all ships except the Israeli ones are free and safe to sail through the strategic water.
Recently, the Yemeni armed forces have also targeted several American and British vessels in response to the two countries’ aerial strikes on Yemen.
